Professional Excellence

Dr. Schwartz came to the Eastern Shore after completing his fellowship and served as Chief of Ophthalmology at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. He also held a faculty appointment as Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Maryland, teaching residents. In 2004 he opened Atlantic Retina to bring subspecialty retinal care to patients who had been driving to Baltimore, Philadelphia, or Washington for it.

Retinal disease rarely waits, so I would rather see someone this week than tell them it can hold. Every laser I have done comes back to the same goal, which is protecting the sight a patient still has.

Practice and Recognition

At Atlantic Retina, Dr. Schwartz manages macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy with ongoing treatment and follow-up to protect vision over time. Retinal detachments and vision-threatening infections are seen urgently, often the same day, because delay costs sight that cannot be recovered. Patients are seen at five locations across Delaware and Maryland's Eastern Shore.
