Advanced Treatment for Complex Retinal Conditions

Some eye conditions require a specialist's touch, and in Salisbury we have exactly that. We manage macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachments and tears, macular pucker and holes, and vascular occlusions supported by in-office imaging, laser, intravitreal injections, and vitreoretinal surgery.

Common Questions About Our Salisbury Retina Office

Common Questions About Our Salisbury Retina Office

Salisbury is Atlantic Retina Center's full-time headquarters and the home office for all three of our board-certified, fellowship-trained vitreoretinal surgeons. Because the office is open five days a week, Salisbury offers the most scheduling flexibility in the practice, including same-week appointments when symptoms can't wait. In-office imaging, laser, and injection therapy are available every weekday rather than on a rotating schedule.

Yes, and Salisbury is where you are most likely to see them. Our three vitreoretinal surgeons are all based here, so Salisbury patients have the widest choice of provider and appointment day. Each surgeon is board-certified and fellowship-trained in diseases and surgery of the retina and vitreous, which is the only kind of eye care this practice provides.

As our full-service headquarters, Salisbury handles the complete range of retinal, vitreous, and macular disease: age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein and artery occlusion, macular pucker, macular hole, and retinal tears and detachments. All are evaluated with in-office retinal imaging and treated with laser and intravitreal injection therapy here in Salisbury. Because the office is staffed daily, Salisbury is also where we can most often work in urgent evaluations for new flashes, a sudden shower of floaters, or a shadow or curtain across your vision. Those symptoms can signal a retinal tear or detachment and should be evaluated the same day, so call our office rather than waiting for an online request.

Most of our patients arrive by referral from an optometrist, ophthalmologist, or primary care physician, and we work closely with referring providers across the Eastern Shore to return findings and coordinate ongoing care. You do not need a referral to request an appointment yourself, though some insurance plans require one for specialist visits, so it's worth checking your plan before you call. Referring providers can send a patient to us through our physician referral page.

Atlantic Retina Center accepts Medicare and most major commercial insurance plans. Because coverage for retinal imaging and intravitreal injections varies by plan, we recommend calling our office with your insurance information before your first visit so our staff can verify your benefits in advance.

Salisbury is our main office for Wicomico County and the lower Eastern Shore, welcoming patients from Fruitland, Delmar, Hebron, Pittsville, Mardela Springs, and Princess Anne. Patients closer to the coast are often seen at our Ocean Pines office, and those on the Mid-Shore at our Easton office. All five locations are listed here.
